And looky there–a whole nother WEEK is gone and over with!  Whooda thunk it?!  Certainly not me.

I bought myself a SOOPAH cute set of penguins clipart thingies on Etsy yesterday in an attempt to…er… “fix” my page a bit.  You can thank LookPrettyPaper for that madness.  I might try to integrate them more fully into my blog posts, though I’m not sure how?  I was thinking maybe I’d make my very own book review “buttons.”  I don’t even know if you guys understand what I’m trying to say there, but…my thought was, I could use the PENGUINS instead of typing out all my “Quick Reasons.”  Of course, I’d still include in-depth stuff in the review… I don’t know, I guess I still need to think about this.

I managed to squash the BIG NASTY ICKY MONSTER SPIDER FROM HELL all by myself the other day!  I’ve since learned that I am capable of annihilating said icks…if I have a very big shoe (thank you, hubby) and don’t stand there thinking of all the many ways monster spider might jump on my face mid-swing.  Seriously, guys, when it comes to spiders, I’m a definite damsel in distress.  But this week, I was all:

There were a pair of pigeons hanging out on a sign in the parking lot of my work place this morning.  Watching them, all I could think about was:

It was cute, but also (somehow?) sort of annoying.  Silly birds, I wanted to go home and snuggle the husband, too!

Reasons: So, okay, hear me out?  I can TOTALLY see Romeo and Riley collaborating on a cover for this song.  And with their edgy, punk-rock style… I think it would be MAGNIFICENT.

Reasons: If you’ve read this book, you know the ending…and you know why I MIGHT lean toward this song for this read.  It’s somehow beautifully fitting.

Reasons: Uhm.  Because I said so, damnit!  No, but really–this should be Celia and Marco’s theme song.

Reasons: I feel like Liddi and Tiav just MIGHT find something haunting or beautiful about the lyrics (depending on which half of the book we’re talking about!)

Reasons: I’m pretty sure Eva would relate with the message of this song.  I’m so sure of it, in fact, I’d be willing to bet THIS would be the song she’d turn on the instant she became “I” in the shared body.

Reasons: There’s just something magical about this song that seems so so fitting with the mythology and folklore of this book.  Also, I think Syrenka might approve of the lyrics.

Reasons:  Well…. DUH?  Do I really need to explain?  I mean, c’mon.

ONLY watch the above video if you’re ready for uber depressing Dalena feels.  I had to include it; the ending for this episode is absolutely gorgeous and I have NEVER cried so hard over a tv show in my life.  There’s an alternate video below– IF YOU HAVEN’T watched season six through completion yet and don’t want spoilers, watch it instead!

Hunger, by Ross Copperman
Book(s) I’d pair this song with:

(NO, I will not apologize for loving the movie poster version of Atonement.  It’s just so damn gorgeous, I can’t help myself!)

Reasons:  I just… These two novels deal with love in very different and heartbreaking ways, and I love both of them–and this song!  They just work.  (Don’t worry, it makes sense to ME!)
