It’s beginning to look a lot like I’M ALMOST DONE WITH WORK!

I mean…I could toooootally write some Christmas carols and rock it out like I always do.  Christmas carols with penguins and zombies and unicorns…. YUP, sounds about right to me!  Oh, and pirates.  Because ARRRRRRRR, MATEY!

I apologize.  I am in suuuuuch a weird mood.  I think it’s because I sat down to draft this post up….and realized I have absolutely nothing to talk about.  So you get random rambley hyper Beth, instead!  YAY, YOU!

I should really start cleaning walls and attempting to get the carpet steamed, but…how does one do that when one’s floor is buried under boxes and one’s walls are mazed in behind the same?

If I’m being honest, I should probably also move the bookcases and DVD stands to the curb and let someone take them–I won’t be needing them, or have room for them.  And the couch; that can go, too.  But I’m only one person?  I don’t think I could lift the heavier things on my own…

***Edit–having considered this after writing, I put up a note at work letting people know I have these things and they’re free to good homes if they come with transportation and help lifting the things.  That might work.***

I have been scheduling blog posts for the upcoming weeks, so no worries–you’ll still be seeing me at least a little this month!  I’m not sure how much I’ll be on during the journey and holidays–I guess it’ll depend on what the plans are and what else is happening.  I will try to pop on and respond to comments, though, so don’t be shy–feel free to spam me like maniac penguins!

Wyoming introduced a new lottery game today, so I got to wear the big floofy hat at work.  My mom also wore one down at our sister store–Lucky for Life team, for the win!  See, look how adorable we are:

So, it’s Sunday!

I feel like time has reeeeeeeeally slowed down the last couple of weeks.  Maybe due to my excitement about the move?  I don’t know, but time needs to kick back into gear already!

I have all my movies packed away, and half of my books stored.  I can’t decide if I should just go ahead and do a MASSIVE bookstagram photoshoot at some point this week and finish packing up my shelves, or… leave it?  I probably should just get it done and over with–less to worry about that way, right?

My mom, grandma, and I did dinner on Thursday.  Nothing special–we just went to a restaurant here in town, as they were open.  Mom has some medical stuff coming up the next few weeks, so we spent some time figuring out a plan.  She’s having a second carpal tunnel surgery done on her right hand, and an ulnar nerve (un?)impingement on her right elbow.  Her birthday is the 3rd…this goes down the 5th.  Happy birthday to her?!  She’s also going to start having neck injections done; the first is set for the 20th.  Hopefully these will help with the neck pain she’s been experiencing.

My aunt finished her round of steroids, but it’s become very apparent she’s suffered quite a bit of memory loss from the tumor–both short and long-term.  She doesn’t even remember ME, and I’m 28 years old, so that tells you how worrying this is.  We aren’t sure she’ll ever be able to recover the time she’s lost.

My niece, who is also a type 1 diabetic, has been having seizures the last couple months.  She’s been seeing a neurologist–they aren’t currently sure if it’s the diabetes or something completely different causing the seizures.

Basically….my entire family is falling apart at the moment.  I’m just hoping I’m not leaving at a VERY bad time.  We’re not super close, but…it’s still family?  My grandma is taking it especially hard.

Apart from that, I just keep trekking.  How were all your Thanksgivings (if you celebrated)?  What have you all been reading this last week?!

Book Photo Sundays (#2)

Hello everyone! Welcome to “Book Photo Sundays” where you get the chance to showcase photos of your books, bookshelves and book conventions you have gone to!  The goal of this book meme is to basically just post up a photo of the various books you have read or your book hauls on your blog and link back here so that way everyone can check out your wonderful book photos!  You can get your book photos through your Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Iphone or any other account where you can get your photos!

— See their latest post RIGHT HERE! —

YAAAAAAAAAY, book pictures!  I just… I can’t even!  Uhm…so, let’s jump right into this, because…I post a lot of book pictures?! which means there’s not much room to chitchat.

So….in fact, I think I’m just gonna pick my favorites from the last week, because there are a lot and WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT?!  So yes.  My favorites.  TOOOOOTALLY easier, that!

blackspines

We had another bought of warm weather recently, and I took advantage of the mild winter in Wyoming weirdness to host an outdoor bookish photoshoot!  This was for a prompt on instagram–#blackspines.  There’s just something about those naked books with the flowers and the skull that calls to me, I guess!

bluelily

Another shot from the outside fun–I really love how you can sort of see the sparkles on the book cover for this one.  And the dead/dried out plants underneath, paired with my trusty basket of roses… Perrrrrfection, I think!

snugasabugsunday

And finally, a post from this morning–the prompt was #snugasabugsunday (and so far as I can tell, it’s basically just another version of #socksunday).  Either way, I had a TON of fun doing Christmas colors…and showing off one of my many pairs of toe socks!  Because toe socks make me feel all kinds of cozy.

There you have it–my favorite book pictures from my bookstagram this last week!  Are you participating in Book Photo Sundays?!  Feel free to link me to your post below, or find me on instagram RIGHT HERE!

Until next time, happy book-ing!

So–I started packing!  Officially!  There are boxes, FILLED, with stuff!

I mean….not many boxes?  BUT THERE ARE BOXES!  Just with books and movies…..BUT IT’S A START!

I don’t know why I felt like screaming at you, penguins.  Please don’t take it personally, I’m just in a screaming mood I guess?  I don’t know.  I don’t know.

I also…don’t really have much going on in my life this week?  I’m not even sure what I’m doing NEXT week, aside from continuing to slowly fill boxes with my stuff because THE MOVE IS COMING, THE MOVE IS COMING!

SERIOUSLY, penguins–empty boxes are beginning to take over my apartment!  It’s like a cardboard invasion, except I can’t battle them down or fight them off because I’m going to NEED them here very soon.  I mean, it’s fine, don’t get me wrong…but they’re EVERYWHERE.  My coworkers keep threatening to pile them up around me and then knock the tower down so I’m buried and can’t leave town.  XD

I spent the whole of yesterday chasing high blood sugars.  I am honestly still not certain if it’s thanks to hormones or just one of those fluke weeks that comes around now and then.  My sugar didn’t drop below 136…and most of my day was spent over 200.  I woke up super low this morning….but spiked again after breakfast to 190.  And stayed there, preeeeeetty stubbornly, for most of the morning.  It did, finally, drop about an hour before my second dose of insulin peaked, and I’ve been battling lows ever since, so…fingers crossed I’m back on track!

Aside from all THAT madness, there’s a whole lotta nothing going on in my life right now, so….let’s take a look at how the last week treated me on the blog!

Hello hello!  How is everyone today?  I hope you’re all fantabulous!

My week, overall, was fairly quiet.  I had a doctor appointment on Wednesday, a last-minute diabetes checkup before I move in order to get my prescriptions refilled and covered until I can find a doctor/get in to see a doctor in Indiana.  They did a BUNCH of stuff while I was there:  gave me a flu shot (and yes, I AM one of those lucky people who end up with symptoms from the shot that emulate the flu); cleaned out my ears (oh, my penguins, guys–the world is SO much louder than I’m used to!); and drew blood for labs.  My A1C (hemoglobin A1C, for those who don’t know–the thing that measures how my blood sugars have been doing for the past 3 months) was 6.1, which is AWESOME and I’m so super happy with that.  That means my sugars, in general, have averaged about 109.  For a type 1 diabetic, this is really great control!

I have an appointment Monday with an OB-GYN to talk about my options in regards to (sorry, men) birth control, as I figure I’d better start being a responsible single adult about this and since I have the opportunity before I leave…. Well, yah know.  I’m leaning toward the copper coil IUD, but I’m sort of terrified.  I have a slight skin sensitivity to metal, though I don’t think copper plays a part in that–just nickel mostly.  I’ve done my research, and I KNOW most women who have nickel sensitivities don’t usually have an issue with the IUD.  It’s the best option for me, as I know hormones cause HUGE blood sugar issues in type 1 diabetic patients and I don’t want to go that route because hello, awesome control the last five or so years now!  The PA I went to see called over to the OB office and asked them for their recommendations, and they said for type 1s they like to use the copper coil, which is reassuring.  So I’m informed, and I know this is my best bet…but I have a problem with overthinking and doubting my decisions.  Any words of advice from you folk out there?  Or words of encouragement?  We all know the internet is the big scary negativity monster; there are more horror stories out there than anything else.

What else, what else….

We’re nearing the end of October!  Which means in just a few short weeks, I should probably think about starting to fill up boxes and go through my things.  They took my weight while I was at the doctor this last week, and I’m at 122 lbs.  I’ve NEVER in my life weighed this–I’m hoping I can keep it there, because I’m loving how I feel about myself here.  But this means a lot of my clothes no longer fit me right, so I plan on going through all the clothes I haven’t worn in forever and deciding which ones to keep and which to throw out.  I imagine I’ll be getting rid of MOST of my clothes, because…well, they’re huge on me basically.

And…I think that’s about it for this week!  I DID buy myself a few books this week, for a change–there were some pretty awesome deals going on–and I’ll be getting my preorders in the mail (FINALLY!) in the next few days, so those’ll be going up on next week’s wrapup.  YAY, I’m so excited about them!

How has the world been treating all of you?  And again, if you’ve any words of advice or encouragement for me, PLEASE comment–I’d looooove to hear what you have to say!

Guys.

Guys.

GUYS!

It’s only the middle of October and I’ve already read, like…14!?!?! books.  Wait, let me go count them to be sure…

Yes, I was right.  14.  FOURTEEN!  What IS this madness?!  Who slipped the good reading juju into my water?!  I must know my own secret, someone tell me what it is so I can tell myself to keep it up!

Seriously, I’m not complaining, but at the same time, I still intend to read…uhm…10.  I have TEN MORE books I have to read by the end of the month.  Am I crazy?!  I must be crazy…I don’t know how else to even explain myself…Oh my penguins, someone send help.

I am trying to stop picking at my fingers.  I’ve had this obsessive picking disorder since I was three, and I’m SO tired of mutilating myself.  It’s been a struggle, but this is the longest I’ve held on to my determination.  I mean, I’ve slipped up a few times, but I’m hoping I keep fighting.  I SO want to finally overcome this thing.  So if you guys have been through this or something similar, and have advice, PLEASE feel free to leave it for me below!

Annnnnnnnd… I guess that’s it!  How’s your week treating you?  Know what you’re dressing up as for Halloween yet?!  Have anything FAB planned for the coming weeks?!?!?! Let me know!
