Villainous Love Songs (#27)

Lovesongs

Because c’mon–you think those characters with the hearts of ice, the unbreakable wills, the huge tendency to bully DON’T jam out to the mushy-gushy on their iPods sometimes?

I am of the firm opinion that villains, just like everybody else, have a love song they just can’t help but…well…LOVE!

This will be a consistent new feature on my blog–probably posted every Monday.  Because there are a LOT of villains, and a LOT of love songs, out there to match… and I’m bound and determined to do it!

If you like this meme, feel free to post up your own–just be sure to link back to mine!

The Doctor
(Doctor Who)

Tell me I’m wrong, penguins.  TELL ME, I DARE YOU!  I mean seriously, The Doctor and all his companions?  This song is his MANTRA, okay?

“Because you’re not here and now I fear,
I’ll never get back to you.”

I apologize for any heartbreak I just caused, but…this pairing works.

Reese/Reese’s Pieces
(Untitled Beauty, by C.E. Wilson)

I KNOW the eye color is wrong in these images, BUT GUYS–Reese is one of the greatest characters EVER, this book broke me about a million times, and this song?  This song so belongs to him for the rest of forever.  I just… Yes.  Read this book.  READ THIS BOOK, and tell me this pairing isn’t perfect.  (and I know, I know, he’s not ACTUALLY a villain–but for a large part of this book, we’re led to believe he is, so…)

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!

Villains…and the love songs they don’t want anyone to know they rock out to.

If villains in your world had a favorite love song, which would it be?  Let me know what you think of this post below–or feel free to jump in and post your own pairs!

Until next time, happy book-ing!

Top Ten Tuesday (#36)

TTT

HOSTED BY: The Broke and The Bookish
DESCRIPTION:  Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Last week’s theme:In honor of Fall Tv, do a tv-themed topic!

Find their latest post here!

But no.  Nope.  I’m scheduling this post ahead of time and I just don’t WANNA with TV right now, soooo, have this instead:

Top 5 Songs I’m Totally OBSESSED with Right Now

I don’t even know how to explain this one, but this song.  THIS SONG.  I belong to this song.  It’s just so… so… I don’t even know!  But it’s something.  And that something?  is pretty freaking epic, I think.

This is just so poetic and gorgeous and…gaaaaah.  Yes.  Love.  So much love.

There’s something so so pretty about this duet–and the yearning in the lyrics.  It speaks to me.  It speaks to me SO.  DEEPLY.  Of course, Halestorm usually does.

If you take time to listen to/watch any of these songs, PLEASE make it this one.  It’s gorgeous, and insightful, and speaks so deeply to the core of all of us, and… I cannot recommend it enough.

Again… I picked this one for the lyrics.  Listen to it.  Understand it.  THINK about it.  I promise, it’ll change you if you let it.

What are some of YOUR current musical obsessions?!  Please share them with me below–I LOVE getting music recommendations!  Also, what did you think of my choices?   Feel free to share your thoughts with me in the comments, or link me to your own Top Ten Tuesday!

Until next time, happy book-ing!

VILLAINOUS LOVE SONGS

Jessie
(Team Rocket, Pokemon)

I mean seeeeeeeriously, this chick is sooooooopah obsessed with laying hands on a Pikachu.  ANY Pikachu.  So this song?  I felt it was pretty gosh-dern fitting, all things considered.

Ig Perrish
(Horns, by Joe Hill)

Because….uhm…. Well, I think this one’s preeeeeetty self-explanatory if you’ve read the book.  I haven’t seen the movie, so I can’t comment on THAT version, but BOOK Ig?!  This song should be his soundtrack.

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!

The Songs:

Shadows, by Breathe Carolina

All of me is wrapped around you
They will never hold you like I do
A thousand suns will stay and melt
Our shadows into one
Now I want it all

Sleep Baby Sleep, by Broods

Ignorance is torture but your love is right
Tip to tip a gentleman of the night
Feed my fascination a way our skin likes silk
And I’m still filled with wonder you could fool me easily so

A Thousand Years, by Christina Perri

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

Smoke, by PVRIS

You’re just a ghost of blissful feelings,
A cloud of smoke that I keep breathing,
An illusion, I’m losing you to the games in my mind.
I see your face, an apparition,
But now it’s changed,
Shape shifting,
Don’t wanna open my eyes.

Silence and Scars, by Pop Evil

I know I’ve been wrong; I don’t have all the answers
I’m stuck in this hell somewhere in between
What I want and what I need; I don’t have a good reason
Now that you’re gone only silence and scars remain

All of My Days, by Tyler Brown Williams

Oh oh let’s go, nobody knows
Let the wind take us away
Oh wherever we go, I hope that you know
That I’m gonna love you for all of my days

I’ll Follow You, by Shinedown

Yeah the first step is the one you believe in
And the second one might be profound.

I See the Light, by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi

All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were

May I, by Trading Yesterday

May I hold you as you fall to sleep
When the world is closing in
And you can’t breathe here
May I love you, may I be your shield
When no one can be found
May I lay you down

Last Love Song, by ZZ Ward

All these notes and all these words,
Are all that’s left in me,
Bend these pages, count my woes,
One last song to set me free

And that’s it!

And looky there–a whole nother WEEK is gone and over with!  Whooda thunk it?!  Certainly not me.

I bought myself a SOOPAH cute set of penguins clipart thingies on Etsy yesterday in an attempt to…er… “fix” my page a bit.  You can thank LookPrettyPaper for that madness.  I might try to integrate them more fully into my blog posts, though I’m not sure how?  I was thinking maybe I’d make my very own book review “buttons.”  I don’t even know if you guys understand what I’m trying to say there, but…my thought was, I could use the PENGUINS instead of typing out all my “Quick Reasons.”  Of course, I’d still include in-depth stuff in the review… I don’t know, I guess I still need to think about this.

I managed to squash the BIG NASTY ICKY MONSTER SPIDER FROM HELL all by myself the other day!  I’ve since learned that I am capable of annihilating said icks…if I have a very big shoe (thank you, hubby) and don’t stand there thinking of all the many ways monster spider might jump on my face mid-swing.  Seriously, guys, when it comes to spiders, I’m a definite damsel in distress.  But this week, I was all:

There were a pair of pigeons hanging out on a sign in the parking lot of my work place this morning.  Watching them, all I could think about was:

It was cute, but also (somehow?) sort of annoying.  Silly birds, I wanted to go home and snuggle the husband, too!

So, all that wacky wild aside…

Welcome to the end of another week, penguins!  I honestly don’t know where the time is going…there must be some sort of time toilet suctioning all the extra minutes from my life.

(I’m hedging my bets on the Ministry of Magic)

All things considered, this week’s been fairly quiet on the drama front (yay!)

My blood sugars, on the other hand, have been finicky bastards.  Needless to say, I feel a sorts of fatigued…and have been sleeping way more than usual.

(or…maybe this is just because I’m getting old.)

A friend of mine and I (is that proper grammar?  I don’t even know right now) have been getting into long and entertaining GIF wars on facebook the last few days.

No, really–we take them very seriously.

but

THE POINT IS:

I think we spend at least an hour each day bombarding one another with GIFs.  It gets pretty out of hand…but MAHGOSH, is it fun!  So…maybe you should, y’know, try it one of these days.  Or somethin’.  If you wanna.

VILLAINOUS LOVE SONGS

I think I might have to make it a weekly thing, to include at least one movie (particularly Disney!) villain in each post.  Because…I mean… Duh!?

Yzma
(The Emperor’s New Groove)

“Drink the wine, my darling, you said.
Take your time and consume all of it.”

I mean…I just… SO FITTING!  Except Yzma would not be the victim.

Smeagol/Gollum
The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings

I’m not even going to TRY to explain this one.  I think it’s preeeeetty obvious.

Achilles
Extra Parts, by Emma Winters

Again…I… I don’t think this really needs an explanation, but uhm.  He hurts her, he makes her leave…and then he regrets it!  TADA, perfect song choice!  I win!

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!

I feel like I JUST sat down to do last week’s post…and suddenly, here we are again?!  What even… Where did the week go?

Anywho….

How goes every bunny’s hop hop day?!  I hope they’ve been filled with spectaculousness!

Song Loops

I’ve been listening to a LOT of music lately.  Here are just a few of the songs I’ve been listening to practically on repeat.

Black Rose, by Trapt
Favorite Lines:
“Every time I held you I knew that it would hurt.
Only through the pain I could find a way to learn.
Black rose, your thorns are cutting into me for the last time;
black rose, I watched your petals wilt away…
So wilt away!
I couldn’t bring you back to life.”

Out of the Woods, by Taylor Swift
Favorite Lines:
“Remember when we couldn’t take the heat?
I walked out, I said, I’m setting you free.
But the monsters turned out to be just trees–
when the sun came up,
you were looking at me.”

Familiar Taste of Poison, by Halestorm
Favorite Lines:
“But the roses were only to drain my inspiration.
The promises were spoiled before they left your lips and…
I breathe you in again just to feel you
underneath my skin, holding on to
the sweet escape is always laced with a familiar taste of poison.”

Masterpiece Theater I, II, and III, by Marianas Trench
Favorite Lines:
Part I–
“I’ve been here so very long,
and every word is calculated,
never questioned or debated.
All these practiced poses–
I could wreck it if i had to,
but I’m the wreck so what would that do?”
Part II–
“Making mostly to themselves–
hush now, they’ll hurt you till your heart melts.
They know you’re lonely
and they will only break your heart.
And this masterpiece will tear you apart.”
Part III–
“I’d be so good to you,
because they don’t know you like I do.
There’s a difference from me to them,
and the road home is paved in star fuckers requiem.”

What do you guys think?  Find anything here you like?  How about you–what songs have you been playing on a loop lately?  Feel free to share with me below!

Until next time, happy book-ing!
