HOSTED BY: The Broke and The Bookish
DESCRIPTION: Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists! This week’s theme: Top Ten Facts About Us
And by facts, I mean…
Top Ten FIVE Favorite Book-to-Movie Adaptations
Except I don’t mean the well-known ones. (Okay, there will be a FEW you’ve heard of here, buuuut overall? Still not the ones that are talked about regularly)
I just LOOOOOVE this TV movie? I don’t even know if I can explain why, exactly…but Hatter and Alice? DEFINITELY OTP after this adaptation.
WHY?! DOES NOBODY?!?! Talk about this movie?!?!?!?!?! Like… I never hear anything about it, and it’s just the greatest thing eveeeeeer! If you tell me you don’t love this movie, you’re lying. Case closed.
This movie, guys. THIS. MOVIE. I mean, do I really need to say more than that? Really?! It’s snarky, sassy, witty with wordplay….and based on Shakespeare. So much win!
For one…it’s Disney, and it’s GORGEOUS. Like, you know how most of the time, Disney sequels go WAY down in quality?! Yeah, this one?! NOT AT ALL! It’s absolutely stunning, and it’s Romeo and Juliet inspired, and… I love it more than the original. Which is CRAZY TALK, guys–but I’m not taking it back. You can’t make me!
I could be here all NIGHT if I picked out more than these GIFs. I read this book, too, and guys. GUYS. It’s WAY different, and yet somehow the heart of the book and the heart of the movie are the same. They are perfect separate AND together…and I love them. I love them. But this movie is also the CREEPIEST THING EVER, okay? I cannot–I repeat, CANNOT–listen to Always On My Mind, by Elvis Presley, ever again the same way. This movie ruined that song for me–I get cold chills every single time!
What movie adaptations make the top of your favorites list, and why?! Feel free to share your thoughts with me in the comments, or link me to your own Top Ten Tuesday!
Until next time, happy book-ing!
I love 10 Things I Hate About You! It’s one of my favorite movies! 😀

I loved 10 Things I Hate About You! It was filmed at Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA. I’ve driven by that school so much! I went to see the movie at the theater by myself when I was in college. I actually told the guy (who I didn’t know) next to me that I went to school with one of the extras. I think he thought I was crazy, even if it was true! LOL. Nice list!

Lmao that’s so awesome! I do LOVE that end shot, with the band on the roof–that school is soooo drool-worthy, I think!

It’s really old and pretty. It’s always on the news when we get crazy rain. It fills up the school’s stadium.

That is soooo awesome, haha! I mean…not the rain thing, necessarily, but the school itself lol.

I LOVE 10 Things I Hate About You! Such a classic high school movie. Also, I do love Hook very, very much. Robin Williams will always be one of my favorite actors. Practical Magic is such any amazing movie, too. I haven’t read the book though!

10 Things I Hate About You is great! I never realized that Simba’s Pride was based on Romeo and Juliet. Kinda cool that both Lion Kings were based on Shakespeare.
