Let the Moving/Reading Mad-Dash Begin

card-template-2e

So… I mosey-waddled my penguin butt over to goodreads earlier ( because #reviewerobligations #Ihadto #it’sacompulsion ) and I got to looking at my goodreads challenges for this year and last year, and…

2015challenge2016challenge

I am SO CLOSE to reading the same amount…or BEATING! my total from last year.  SO I decided, at the last minute, to do the thing…and try to beat myself.  Because beating friends is fun, but beating YOURSELF is better.  #whateven #Idon’tknow

So.  I plan to read 7– YES, SEVEN!– more books before the end of December.  Can I do it?  I don’t know.  I don’t know.  I’ll be moving part of that time, so…maybe not?  I might fail spectacularly.  But that’s what this post is all about–giving myself a mental BOOST!  Because I think, if I can get a few good reading days in, I can knock it out of the park.  Maybe.

What books do I hope to read?!  Weeeeeell… Fingers crossed, I’ll get to these:

Full Tilt (Full Tilt, #1)

The Neverland Wars

November Snow (Bad Bloods, #2)

Book of the Night (The Black Musketeers #1)

The Kiss That Saved Me (The Tidal Kiss Trilogy Book 2)

Future Threat (Future Shock, #2)

Everything You Want Me to Be

What do you think, guys?  Can I make it?  Will you help me?

I NEED SOMEONE TO PUSH ME, OKAY?!  #bemyreadingcoach #pushmetomakeit

What are you guys up to?  What are you reading, or planning to read before the end of the year?  HOW ARE YOU ALL?!?!?!?!?!

I feel like I yell at you and nobody ever answers me.

September “Want to Read” List!

want to read

I know, I know–I don’t usually post TBR lists for the month because I am HORRID about sticking to them, because things are always cropping up, because I get terribly distracted by other books, because I just can’t stick to the plan man!

But… Well, I figure if I do a “want to read” list instead of a TBR, I might feel less obligated to stick with it and might actually READ some of the books I want to.  I mean, it makes sense right?  I think so.  SO, here’s a tentative look at the books I’m hoping to get to this month (and/or books that I need to read for review obligations)–as always, click the cover to go to Goodreads:

Review Obligations

The Tokyo Cover Girls (The Tokyo Cover Girls, #1)

Already read! Point one for me!

I mean…not TOO shabby, all things considered!  I’m already halfway through my obligated reads!

So…

Books I Want to TRY to Read

The Duchess Inheritance (Jordinia #2)

Sign of the Green Dragon

November Rain (Bad Bloods, #1)

November Snow (Bad Bloods, #2)

What do you guys think?!  Can I do it?!?!?!

In the Hope of Memories

Hope is dying.

Hope Jackson has lived her short life to the fullest, but her four closest friends are dangling on the brink of disaster. Right before dying of a rare heart condition, Hope sets up a scavenger hunt across New York City using her graffiti art. The directions she leaves her friends are simple: Solve the clues hidden in her art, and they’ll solve the problems haunting their lives.

Hope is dead.

Two days after her heart fails, Hope’s friends are thrown together:

Aiden, her best friend, whose plans to attend college have been scattered by his OCD.
Kali, her foster sister, whose last ties to sanity are as razor-thin as her anorexic waistline.
Erik, her high school crush, whose success as an athlete is based on a lie with no end in sight.
And Sam, her online pen-pal, whose perfect life exploded into chaos in the aftermath of a school bombing.

Together, the four teens take to the streets of New York to complete Hope’s scavenger hunt and fulfill her dying wishes. But in order to unravel the clues hidden in Hope’s graffiti, her friends will need to confront their personal demons head on.

Hope is within reach.

Why I want it:

Well… I mean… It just sounds SO GOOD!?!?!  Also, it sounds like the sort of book that is bound to break my heart into about a bajillion pieces and I need that in my life right now.

The Sea of Tranquility

I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.

Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.

Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.

The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.

Why I want it:

I guess I’m REALLY up for the contemporary in my reading world right now, because that’s ALL I want to read lately?!  But yes.  This book ALSO sounds good…and the cover is SO freaking gorgeous, I can’t even!

What do you guys think–have you read either of these?  What did you think of them, if so?  Let me know your thoughts below or link me to your Wishlist Wednesday post, and as always…

Until next time, happy book-ing!

Beast

Goodreads Rating: 4.11 Stars

Tall, meaty, muscle-bound, and hairier than most throw rugs, Dylan doesn’t look like your average fifteen-year-old, so, naturally, high school has not been kind to him. To make matters worse, on the day his school bans hats (his preferred camouflage), Dylan goes up on his roof only to fall and wake up in the hospital with a broken leg—and a mandate to attend group therapy for self-harmers.

Dylan vows to say nothing and zones out at therapy—until he meets Jamie. She’s funny, smart, and so stunning, even his womanizing best friend, JP, would be jealous. She’s also the first person to ever call Dylan out on his self-pitying and superficiality. As Jamie’s humanity and wisdom begin to rub off on Dylan, they become more than just friends. But there is something Dylan doesn’t know about Jamie, something she shared with the group the day he wasn’t listening. Something that shouldn’t change a thing. She is who she’s always been—an amazing photographer and devoted friend, who also happens to be transgender. But will Dylan see it that way?

Why I want it:  Uhm, did you READ the blurb?!  Aside from having a diverse cast (YAY!) it just sounds so so SO good!

Surviving High School: A Novel

Goodreads Rating: 4.25 Stars

Vine superstar Lele Pons—“one of the coolest girls on the web” (Teen Vogue)—teams up with #1 New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz (The Isle of the Lost) in this lovable debut novel about the wilds and wonders of high school that’s as laugh-out-loud addictive as Lele’s popular videos.

Ten million followers and I still sit alone at lunch. Lele is a bulls-eye target at her new school in Miami until, overnight, her digital fame catapults the girl with cheerleader looks, a seriously silly personality, and a self-deprecating funny bone into the popular crowd. Now she’s facing a whole new set of challenges—the relentless drama, the ruthless cliques, the unexpected internet celebrity—all while trying to keep her grades up and make her parents proud.

Filled with the zany enthusiasm that has made Lele into Vine’s most viewed star, this charming novel is proof that high school is a trip. From crushing your crushes (what’s up with that hot transfer student Alexei??) to throwing Insta-fake parties with your BFFs and moaning over homework (GAH) with your frenemies, high school is a rollercoaster of exhilarating highs and totally embarrassing lows. Leave it to Lele to reassure us that falling flat on your face is definitely not the end of the world. Fans of Mean Girls will love this fun and heartwarming fish-out-of-water story.

Reasons I want it:  So, this sounds like it’s got a TON of drama, angst, and overly-emotional scenes…and I NEED that in my life!  I need that so so bad!

What do you guys think–have you read either of these?  What did you think of them, if so?  Let me know your thoughts below or link me to your Wishlist Wednesday post, and as always…

Until next time, happy book-ing!
