So…is Wishlist Wednesday not a thing anymore?  Does anyone know?  I haven’t seen a new one on the host’s site for….well, since like February.  Let me know so I know if I want to continue posting these up, or figure out something else for Wednesdays!  I mean, if nothing else I’ll just change the name up a little bit and keep posting these… *shrugs*

The Leopard King (Ars Numina Book 1) by [Aguirre, Ann]

Proud. Imperious. Impassioned.

Until three years ago, those words applied to Dominic Asher, the leader of Ash Valley. His family has ruled the feline branch of the Animari for hundreds of years, guiding the pride through perilous times. Unspeakable loss drove him into seclusion, a feral beast nobody can tame. Now he’s wrecked, a leopard king in exile, and he wants nothing more than to die.

Fierce. Loyal. Determined.

Fortunately for Dom, those words still apply to Pru Bristow, his dead mate’s best friend. She’s had her heart broken too, but she never quits. With the conclave approaching, alliances with the Pine Ridge pack and Burnt Amber clans on the verge of collapse, she’s prepared to do whatever it takes to drag their leader back, before his second can start a war.

At best theirs seems like a desperate alliance, but when their mate bond turns hot and fierce, there’s no end to the questions and the doubts. Neither of them expects to fall in love. But sometimes people don’t know what they’re looking for until they find it.

Why I want it:  I’ve always been rather fascinated by leopard-shifter tales…and have been searching for a new way to fill the obsession.  THIS book?!  Weill do just that, I think (and also maybe fill the empty cavern of “I need romance in my reads” I’ve been feeling lately)

My Lady Jane by [Hand, Cynthia, Ashton, Brodi, Meadows, Jodi]

The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.

At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about.Jane gets to be Queen of England.

Like that could go wrong

Why I want it:   I read a few of the chapters through an email service, and let me just tell you, what I read was absolutely HILARIOUS.  I was pretty unsure if I wanted this book…until I read through the first few chapters.  Then, I knew I NEEDED it.

The Female of the Species by [McGinnis, Mindy]

Edgar Award–winning author Mindy McGinnis delivers a dark and riveting contemporary YA novel that blends the unflinching honesty of Laurie Halse Anderson’s Speak with the relentless pacing and alternating perspectives of Gone Girl. A stunning, unforgettable page-turner.

Alex Craft knows how to kill someone. And she doesn’t feel bad about it.

Three years ago, when her older sister, Anna, was murdered and the killer walked free, Alex uncaged the language she knows best—the language of violence. While her own crime goes unpunished, Alex knows she can’t be trusted among other people. Not with Jack, the star athlete who wants to really know her but still feels guilty over the role he played the night Anna’s body was discovered. And not with Peekay, the preacher’s kid with a defiant streak who befriends Alex while they volunteer at an animal shelter. Not anyone.

As their senior year unfolds, Alex’s darker nature breaks out, setting these three teens on a collision course that will change their lives forever.

Why I want it:  I recently participated in a twitter chat ALL ABOUT this book and the author, and I just… UGH, I NEED.  I need so hard, guys, you don’t even know.  I need it like I need water, or air, or a flat surface to walk on (because I mean…penguins and sloped or rocky surfaces, not such a good mix).

Our Chemical Hearts by [Sutherland, Krystal]

John Green meets Rainbow Rowell in this irresistible story of first love, broken hearts, and the golden seams that put them back together again.

Henry Page has never been in love. He fancies himself a hopeless romantic, but the slo-mo, heart palpitating, can’t-eat-can’t-sleep kind of love that he’s been hoping for just hasn’t been in the cards for him—at least not yet. Instead, he’s been happy to focus on his grades, on getting into a semi-decent college and finally becoming editor of his school newspaper. Then Grace Town walks into his first period class on the third Tuesday of senior year and he knows everything’s about to change.

Grace isn’t who Henry pictured as his dream girl—she walks with a cane, wears oversized boys’ clothes, and rarely seems to shower. But when Grace and Henry are both chosen to edit the school paper, he quickly finds himself falling for her. It’s obvious there’s something broken about Grace, but it seems to make her even more beautiful to Henry, and he wants nothing more than to help her put the pieces back together again. And yet, this isn’t your average story of boy meets girl. Krystal Sutherland’s brilliant debut is equal parts wit and heartbreak, a potent reminder of the bittersweet bliss that is first love.

Why I want it:  THAT COVER!  THAT DESCRIPTION!  Everything about this book SCREAMS at me to read it, guys–and I want to.  I want to love it so hard, it’ll never be the same.  Give it to meeeeeeeee–I’ll love you forever if you do!

What do you guys think–have you read any of these…or WANT to?  What did you think of them, if so?  Let me know your thoughts below or link me to your Wishlist Wednesday post, and as always…

Until next time, happy book-ing!

    • All of these books have such great things being said about them! Hopefully they aren’t let-downs, a lot of times the “hyped” books are the ones I’m most disappointed by. Of course, these books are nowhere NEAR as hyped as they could be, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Thank you so much for stopping by!

    • LOL the cover for Leopard King IS pretty wonky, I agree–that’s why for those sorts of books, I don’t pay much heed to the cover and instead go with the synopsis.

And right?! I mean, I’m sure they play a role in the story somehow!… I hope!

Thanks so much for stopping by, hon!
