Reader Confessions Tag
I stumbled across this awesome tag over at Reads and Treats— thanks, Kendra!
1. Have you ever damaged a book?
Yes. And I did it… ON PURPOSE!
NUUUUUUUUUUH! you say. HOW DARE YOU?! I hear you exclaim.
Honestly? I bought the books. I destroyed the books. I don’t feel bad about it.
Also, I took a book arts class in college, soooo…
2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
I don’t think so. But I don’t borrow books.
3. How long does it take you to read a book?
It depends. On my days off, I can EASILY finish 1-2 books (sometimes 3, depending on length!) During the work week…I get through maybe 1, if I’m lucky? So… usually about 3 a week, sometimes more, sometimes less.
4. Books that you haven’t finished?
I know my reading tastes well enough, I usually don’t buy books that I end up not liking. Every now and then one sneaks onto my reading list (usually in the form of retellings) But…I haven’t DNFed a book in a while.
5. Hyped/Popular books that you don’t like?
Let’s burst some bubbles here, shall we?!
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Ransom Riggs);
Obsidian (Jennifer L. Armentrout);
The Princess Diaries (Meg Cabot);
Red Queen (Victoria Aveyard);
Vicious (V.E. Schwab);
Eleanor & Park (Rainbow Rowell)
6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?
Nawww, I’m pretty open with my reading. If people don’t like it, too bad, stuff and fluff–they can go shove themselves with marshmallows.
7. How many books do you own?
Print books is somewhere around 800? Ebooks is more like 300.
8. Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?
This TOTALLY depends on several things. First, I tend to fly through ebooks, where with print books I read much slower (someone explain this to me? I don’t get it) Second…if I’m not real invested in the book? I take MUCH longer, because it starts feeling like a chore instead of like fun.
9. Do you like to buddy read?
YES! YES! YES!!!!! Seriously, guys, feel free to approach me about buddy reads–my door is always open!
10. Do you read better in your head or out loud?
Er…in my head, I guess? I do read aloud to the husband, though–mostly Terry Pratchett, because those books BEG to be read aloud–and he doesn’t seem to mind it, so… maybe you should ask him?
11. If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
My Kindle! Because technically it’s ONE book…….that holds literally as many books as you want it to at any given moment. ONE book, countless reading possibilities. Smart, right?!
I TAG:
Kei @ The Lovely Pages Reviews
Caitlin @ Words and Other Beasts
And anyone else who wants to do this thing!
As always, no pressure–if I’ve tagged you and you don’t wanna, don’t do the thing!
Thanks for the tag! I’ve never actually been tagged before so this is really sweet of you! I totally agree with some of the popular books you don’t like, such as Red Queen and Eleanor & Park haha you’re not alone in that.

Oh, I’m SO happy to hear I’m not alone in that–I always worry there’s something weird going on in my brain when that happens!
And you are SO welcome! ❤

This is a fun tag! I actually didn’t like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children either. It might just be that it’s a tiny bit too… young? I don’t know. But I had to force myself to finish it although it’s a pretty quick read.
Also, I’m completely the same when it comes to buddy reads – so much fun!

Isn’t it?! Yeah, I’m not sure why I didn’t like it to be honest–I just couldn’t get into it, and I felt absolutely nothing for the characters. *shrug* It happens!
Penguins, they totally are! Unfortunately, I don’t get the chance to buddy read very often–I need to work on changing that!

It does happen!
Same! I think I need to write a list of books I have waiting to be read so that I can just tell people to pick something they want to read and we can buddy read straight away haha

You know, that’s what I’ve been considering myself–maybe putting it in a widget or something on my side bar? Yeah. XD

You’re so welcome! And lol, right?! Mahgooooosh, haha, I read those and was like…”did I even read the same BOOK?!”

I didn’t like The Princess Diaries or Red Queen either! I kind of enjoyed Eleanor and Park, but I think the hype is maybe too much. 😉
I don’t really have a thing against destroying books for art of whatever, I haven’t done it, yet, but I would totally consider if it I found a project I was interested in doing. We’re not talking about rare medieval manuscripts or signed first editions here. If someone rips up a copy of Harry Potter, there are a million other copies exactly like it in the world. It’s really not a tragedy. As someone who really loves books, I honestly don’t get the objection to some of these book art projects.

Haha, EXACTLY! I mean seriously, I don’t have the money to fling around on rare copies/manuscripts as it is (who does!?) but I CAN afford to buy thrift store copies or books from library sales and if those books end up being art fodder, oh well! There are more where those came from!
Haha, thank you so much for stopping by and reading! ❤

Wow! 800 print books! That’s crazy! But I probably would have that many if I didn’t pass them along or sell them.

It is absolutely jaw-dropping, honestly. I don’t even know how we have the room for them all! XD
